• וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר אָמַר־לוֹ הָאֱלֹהִים וַיִּבֶן שָׁם אַבְרָהָם אֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וַיַּעֲרֹךְ אֶת־הָעֵצִים וַיַּעֲקֹד אֶת־יִצְחָק בְּנוֹ וַיָּשֶׂם אֹתוֹ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ מִמַּעַל לָעֵצִים׃

  And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.

• אָמַר רַבִּי אָבָּהוּ: לָמָּה תּוֹקְעִין בַּשּׁוֹפָר שֶׁל אַיִל? אָמַר הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, תָּקְעוּ לְפָנַי בַּשּׁוֹפָר שֶׁל אַיִל, כְּדֵי שֶׁאֶזְכֹּר לָכֶם עֲקֵדַת יִצְחָק בֶּן אַבְרָהָם, וּמַעֲלֶה אֲנִי עֲלֵיכֶם כְּאִלּוּ עֲקַדְתֶּם עַצְמְכֶם לְפָנַי.

  Said Rabbi Abbahu: Why do we blast on the horn of a ram? The Holy Blessed One said, Blast before me on the horn of a ram, so that I remember for you the binding of Isaac son of Abraham, and I will merit it for you as if you bound yourseles before Me.
